Narrative:

The Curse of Caer Dun is a level 35 mainline quest that requires the player to break the curse of the fort named Caer Dun. The player has been chasing a member of the Vigil named Brother Umberto. After finally confronting and defeating him, the player takes his cursed Heartgem to the Undercroft (Solo Trial arena) and tries to end the curse, which in turn leads to Brother Umberto's soul coming into defense of the Heartgem.

Boss Fight Sequence:

• Intro - The player enters the Undercroft and smashes the cursed Heartgem. Once smashed, Umberto's Cursed Spirit spawns from it.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
   

• Phase 1 - Umberto performs standard combat actions (Ranged attacks, close range blasts, melee staff attacks, rooting ability). 

• Phase 2 - When at 70% health or below, Umberto splits his own soul into 3 fragments, each denoting a style of his standard fighting (melee, ranged and caster). These fragments are linked to the main Umberto and the death of each takes away some of Umberto's health. 
  This phase ends when either 2 out of 3 fragments have been killed, or 20 seconds have elapsed since the fragments were created. At this moment, Umberto pulls in any remainder fragments back into himself and then dashes forward to the player's location.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
   

• Phase 3 - When at 45% health or below, Umberto starts channeling power from the cursed Heartgem and starts draining the player's life. While he cannot be interrupted or damaged, the player should interact with the Heartgem to 'Seal the Curse'. There are two ways this moment ends: 

  • Umberto has healed himself for about 15 seconds. 

  • Or, the player seals the curse and Umberto forcefully splits into fragments again, but in a staggered form (punish window). 

• Death - When the player defeats Umberto, they are prompted to destroy the Heartgem for good. Once they destroy it, Umberto's soul briefly comes out as a ghost and then melts away which marks the end of the boss fight.
