This game was one of my group projects assigned during my graduate program, where our goal was to improvise and make a game based on random prompts assigned to us. Hence, we created the game 'TwinShooters'. My role in this game involved the following:
-
Created two spaceships (controls for left - I J L, controls for right - top, left, right arrows) that keep moving in an infinite scrolling screen, and must survive for as long as they can.
-
Randomly spawning enemies and asteroid belts
The prompts that were implemented in this game are explained as follows:
-
Friendly Fire - Each player has a constantly firing blaster that harms enemies as well as their partner. We also force the player to engage with this mechanic by spawning walls that can only be destroyed by your partner, so the player will occasionally need to fire into their partner’s screen so that they don’t lose.
-
Luck - Random enemy spawns and random bullet patterns
-
Switches - Asteroid belts that can only be destroyed by a bullet from your partner’s screen
In addition to this, we created a documentation that gives a postmortem analysis of our work done for the game.
