Narrative:

The Last Soulwarden is a level 57 Soul Trial part of main story quest 'A Shadow Falls'. The player continues to make progress against defeating The Corruption. Therefore the leader of Corruption, Captain Isabella, retaliates by attacking the Soulwarden Fort and captures the player's mentor and friend, Yonas Alazar. The player follows their trail, but is too late as they learn that Isabella has tortured Yonas by extracting his Heartgem and inflicting it with Corruption. The player has no choice now but to stop their friend and destroy the Corrupted Heartgem.

Boss Fight Sequence:

Intro - The player enters the cave to find Isabella and a suffering Yonas with his Heartgem is inside a red shell. Isabella taunts the player and leaves, and Yonas speaks few words before turning Corrupted.
Phase 1 - Yonas fights in a 'Corrupted Berserk' mode and deals more damage. He does standard melee combat actions with his Hatchet (basic hits and combos), and some special moves.
Phase 1 to 2 Transition (at 66% HP or below) - Yonas forces the player to the center and starts charging up for a Killing Strike. The player must summon an Azoth Shield to protect themselves or they die. If successful in blocking, Yonas is staggered. He informs the player to 'Destroy the Heartgem', and there are two options from here:
- Failure - If the player fails to interact with the Heartgem in time, Yonas will heal himself (regains Corrupted Berserk) and Phase 1 resets.
- Success - If the player interacts with the Heartgem in time, Yonas gets weakened and the Heartgem starts becoming unstable. With this, Phase 2 begins.
Phase 2 - Yonas fights the same as Phase 1, but without the Corrupted Berserk mode. But now the Heartgem has become unstable, and starts shooting arcane bolts at random moments.
Phase 2 to 3 Transition (at 33% HP) - Yonas does the same Killing Strike sequence as before, and the player must summon the shield again. If they are successful, Yonas is weakened but the Heartgem becomes extremely unstable. With this, Phase 3 begins.
Phase 3 - The red shell opens up revealing the unstable Heartgem, and starts shooting arcane bolts erratically. Yonas starts channeling at the Heartgem, but it turns into a Time Bomb (60 seconds). The player must stop Yonas while evading the arcane bolts.
Death - Once Yonas is stopped, he is back to his normal self. He tells the player to end it, and the player must destroy his heartgem. Once this is done, Yonas bids goodbye.
